SAVE THE FLASH

Doesn't matter what model Porsche you drive, please remember to greet other Porsche driver's with a cheerful headlight flash and/or a hand wave and/or a horn toot. Even if they signal you from another make vehicle, chances are they have a Porsche as another car or maybe they just like Porsches!

This is the latest addition to the 911 lineup. She's a 1973 911T coupe. This is a European car which spent all of her life in Italy until 1997 when she moved to the United States. Being a Euro, she is fitted with factory twin 3 barrel Zenith carbs which is completely different than the same year cars exported to the USA which were fuel injected due to emissions regulations. I just recently replaced the factory aircleaner with twin K & N watershields and the engine sounds incredible now....lots of sucking and whooshing music when the gas pedal is depressed generously. One more important note.....she has been re-painted in the original factory colour Tangerine. This colour was used by the factory on their Rallye car entries and therefore is considered to be the most coveted colour for early 911s. I have thus named her Tangerine, in and of itself a beautiful name - for a beautiful car. Tangerine is a factory original car with only 58,000 original Kilometers. The interior is near perfect. The engine is the original 2.4 liter and really scoots her along. Here are some photos:

She had a duck tail on her when I first brought her home

I installed the correct engine lid and added some grill badges

One of the Italian rally decals on the front windshield

Still has the original spare - an XYX no longer available

The factory '72 World Championship decal is still intact

The original air cleaner assembly

I changed out to twin K and N air cleaners

More to come....stay tuned......

This is my 1981 Porsche 911SC Targa

Maybe it's not the newest and best kept example out there but it's mechanically sound and holds it's own (even at track events), but most importantly....it really brings a smile to my face when I drive it!!! I bought it in 1998 from a private owner in Miami in stock but rough condition. I've done quite a bit of work to the car since I bought it. Most of the work I've done myself but have also used the services of a few local Porsche shops when I felt it appropriate.

UPGRADES AND PROJECTS

Here's how it looked when I first brought it home.

A work in progress....3.0 engine and gearbox rebuild. YOKO A032R tires and SSIs.

I bought some nice 16" X 7" and 8" Fuchs which is a nice upgrade from the 6" and 7" stock widths but later had to get another set of the same size Fuchs  but with a deeper offset due to the oversized brakes I installed. The second set of Fuchs were from a 944 Turbo and worked fine.

New Red Recaro SRD seats, Schroth 5 point harnesses, a Stable Energies harness bar, and 2.5 lb. Halon fire extinguisher.

My car already came with a nice Carrera oil cooler.  I added some new horns.

Cambermeister strut brace in place...thanks to Jason at Paragon Products for emergency shipment just before a DE.

Upgraded  brake calipers (4 piston Brembos) front and rear from a 944 Turbo. Here I'm replacing a thin brake pad with a nice new thick one. I like the Hawk HPS Plus pads. No noise, very little dust, and they last quite well.

Worn factory rubber lines were replaced by stainless steel ones.

New Wilwood lightweight brake rotors for the fronts.

I also installed fresh air ducting for the front brake rotors. This really saves the rotors from warping. I used a leaf blower to help analyze the effectiveness of the ducting. It worked well. I also made some small screens to help keep track debris from entering the ducts in front.

The heavy rear SC bumper was replaced with a lightweight RS style unit made by GT that I bought second hand from Byron Von Dwyer on the way home from a track event at Roebling Road. Byron is a great guy and a real Porsche enthusiast. His hospitality fests at the Florida Crown hosted Roebling Road DEs are legendary. He has quite a few second-hand Porsche parts for sale. I Can See For Miles
by The Who

I know you've deceived me, now here's a surprise
I know that you have 'cause there's magic in my eyes

I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
Oh yeah

If you think that I don't know about the little tricks you've played
And never see you when deliberately you put things in my way

Well, here's a poke at you
You're gonna choke on it too
You're gonna lose that smile
Because all the while

I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
Oh yeah

You took advantage of my trust in you when I was so far away
I saw you holding lots of other guys and now you've got the nerve to say

That you still want me
Well, that's as may be
But you gotta stand trial
Because all the while

I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
Oh yeah

I know you've deceived me, now here's a surprise
I know that you have 'cause there's magic in my eyes

I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
Oh yeah

The Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal are mine to see on clear days
You thought that I would need a crystal ball to see right through the haze

Well, here's a poke at you
You're gonna choke on it too
You're gonna lose that smile
Because all the while

I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
and miles and miles and miles and miles

I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles
