Everybody Wants To Rule The World
by Tears For Fears

Welcome to your life
There's no turning back
Even while WE sleep
We will find you
Acting on your best behaviour
Turn your back on mother nature
Everybody wants to rule the world

It's my own design
It's my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help ME make the most
Of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world

There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I'll be right behind you

So glad we've almost made it
So sad they had TO fade it
Everybody wants to rule the world

I can't stand this indecision
Married with a lack of vision
Everybody wants to rule the world
Say that you'll never never never NEVER need it
One headline why believe it ?
Everybody wants to rule the world

All for freedom and for pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world

So, where did the name Bazza come from anyway?

It's an Aussie nickname for Barry that was given to me by some Aussie mates who stayed at my house in the early 80's during a world class surfing competition.

My actual name is Barry John Schultz and I'm from California originally.....not OZ....however I really do admire the Aussies and their philosophy of working and playing hard. They've also stood by our country in times of war and have proven to be worthy of our gratitude for that alone. Thanks Australia !!!

Australians are best known for their hospitality and for living life large.

And look at what spectacular hosts they were at the 2000 Olympics!

And they have awesome beer...

And Kylie...

And great folk songs....

WALTZING MATILDA
Banjo Paterson

Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong
Under the shade of a Coolibah tree
And he sang as he watched and waited 'til his billy boiled
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me

Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me
And he sang as he watched and waited 'til his billy boiled
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me

Down came a jumbuck to dri-ink at that billabong
Up jumped the swagman and grabbed him with glee
And he sang as he stuffed that jumbuck in his tucker-bag
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me
Up rode the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred
Up rode the troopers, one, two, three
"Where's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker-bag?"
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me
Up jumped the swagman and sprang into that billabong
"You'll never take me alive!", said he
And his ghost may be heard as you pa-ass by that billabong
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me

I've been collecting pins and jewelry from Australia like this Opal Kangaroo Pin...

I also collect Porsche pins....

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late

I Can See It In Your Eyes

by Men At Work

By your leave, I think that I'll be going now
I think I've stayed a little long
I looked up all my mother's recipes
I can't think what I did wrong

We go to a restaurant, but you don't like wine
You say it's love you want, but there is no time
I realize, I can see it in your eyes
You keep staring at the floor

I used to look at your school photographs
But I don't have them anymore
I wonder who's in my old college rooms
Or stuck on my old locker door

I dream of the ships at sea, on a stormy night
I wish that it was me, but I wake in fright
I realize, I can see it in your eyes
I've only got myself to blame

Winter kisses when your lips were blue
Like chasing wild geese in the snow
Pressing faces on the window panes
But that's a long long time ago

We go to a restaurant
You say it's love you want
I realize, I can see it in your eyes
You're moving on to something more

Bazza's pets:

Here's Matilda, my 1 year old Umbrella Cockatoo.

Purchased in July 2002, she has a personality all her own. She's much calmer than Willoughby (see below) and doesn't eat my furnishings with her beak like Willoughby used to. It will be interesting to see what happens as she grows older.

In this photo you can see the little peanut holder I fill up weekly for her. She enjoys the challenge of pulling the peanuts out of the device with her beak.

Matilda stays inside -in the living room actually, and has a big California Cage. Her cage door stays open 24/7 and she crawls all over and around the cage throughout the day enjoying the many different perches and views. She likes to sleep while perched on top of the cage door. Maybe it's her way of maintaining her freedom while getting her beauty sleep. I take her outside with me when I do yard work and such and she perches in several vantage points keeping me company.

Toohey.jpg (210680 bytes) This is TOOHEY, born June 2001, he's a Graceful Chameleon.  Rather plain looking in appearance by Chameleon standards, I prefer to think of him as handsome. He is a CB (captive bred) but is by nature quite shy and prefers solitude. Once in awhile he sneaks into 4x's cage or vice-versa and then Toohey breaks out in Yellow spots all over. 4X just takes it all in stride.

4X at home.jpg (51827 bytes) This is 4X, my latest Chameleon. Approx.1 yr. old when purchased in June 2002. He's a Mountain Chameleon. I really like his colouration, horns, and his beautiful sail. He is a WC (wild caught) and does not at all like human contact.

My two chameleons stay outside in a big cage most of the year. I also have two indoor cages and in the winter bring them in when the temps fall below 55 or so. I have a soaker hose coiled on top of their outdoor cage with a timer and electric valve programmed to emit a mist cycle several times per day. This component of their culture is extremely important to their well being and survival.  Getting a fair amount of sunshine each day is also an important part of the culture. I should also mention I wired a rain sensor to the timer so when it rains the water system is temporarily halted. My background as an irrigation contractor made it pretty easy to install this water system.

Why do I have Chameleons as pets, you may be wondering? Well....they are cool to look at. I don't handle them much....mostly because they generally do not like to be handled but also because I prefer to just look at their prehistoric-like features. And when they feed on crickets it's very cool to watch their tongues lash out and snare their unsuspecting prey.

Some of my previous pets:

This is WILLOUGHBY, a 5 year old Umbrella Cockatoo.

Willoughby, unfortunately was attacked and killed by a Raccoon June 2002. It happened at night....a very sad turn of events.  I will never forget Willoughby who was a real character and true companion of mine.

LUDWIG VON, a 4 year old Veiled Chameleon. I sold him to a breeder after raising him from a baby.

Foster -a Mountain Chameleon who unfortunately died due to a strange ailment.

This is Kinger who is in Kitty Heaven now. He was an awesome cat when he was still alive. Run over by a car when I lived in Lehigh Acres. He was with me for many years and through 5 different moves.

 I really miss him.

Interests

I just realized I have red white and blue vehicles:

And this is the newest addition, a 1973 911T Euro coupe in Tangerine.

  19 ft. Mako "Longshot" and

my latest maritime addition...."Chaos", a 16' sloop. I'm still learning to sail but expect to spend more and more time in the water during my downtime. It's a lifestyle that's hard to beat, you know.

I recently purchased this Asteroids arcade game. It's my favorite arcade game of all time. I have it set on free play right now but can also set it to play from quarters. It's in great condition and a good distraction from work sometimes. Just to break off from a designing project and blast some 'stroids does wonders for the imagination and nerves.

Bazza at a Porsche Club of America function in 1999.

I was born June 11, 1954 in Vallejo California where my dad was stationed in the Navy. We also lived in Sonoma and Monterey California before moving to Norfolk, Virginia where I spent most of my "formative years".  In 1968 my father died on an operating table of a brain tumor at age 48. A year and a half later my mom remarried and we moved to Florida. My step-father is retired Coast Guard (that's how he met my mom in Norfolk, through mutual military friends) and was the Postmaster in Oak Hill, Florida when he married my mom. And that's how I ended up in Florida. When we first moved here it was pretty nice, not too crowded. Boy, things sure have changed since then. That's OK because I live on the North Beach where there is restricted development and I'm also a short stroll from some of the best surfing on the East Coast.

I have a BS degree in Ornamental Horticulture from The University of Florida and currently am the owner and operator of Sandpiper Concepts in New Smyrna Beach. Most of my work consists of designing and installation of new irrigation, night lighting, and landscaping and also landscape renovation where I take an existing property and make something beautiful from it. My horticultural background includes stints as a grower in nursery production (2.5 years),  instructor and department head of Ornamental Horticulture at Daytona Beach Community College (5 years), corporate turf and ornamental care product sales (10 years), and landscape and irrigation contracting (6 years). My business website is www.sandpiperconcepts.com for your viewing pleasure.

In my downtime I enjoy working on and driving my 1981 Porsche 911, surfing, photography, boating, fishing, gardening, music, cooking, and I also am the webmaster for the local Porsche Club of America Florida Citrus Region .

I feel compelled to add this photo of what I interpret to be the lady of my dreams rowing toward our Porsche on a lovely morning while on tour in Australia. We are on our way to a bed and breakfast in Western Australia near one of the best surfing locations around. She looked so lovely that morning after our rowboat ride, I asked to be let back onto shore in order to shoot her photo with the windmills in the background and our Porsche 911 in the foreground. My needs in life are very simple....the love of my life, an early 911, and good surf to ride once in a while. What more is there I ask?

Advice for the Young at Heart
by Tears For Fears

Advice for the young at heart
Soon we will be older
When we gonna make it work ?

Too many people living in a secret world
While they play mothers and fathers
We play little boys and girls
When we gonna make it work ?
I could be happy
I could be quite naive
It's only me and my shadows
Happy in our make believe
Soon...

And with the hounds at bay
I'll call your bluff
Cos it would be okay
To walk on tiptoes everyday

And when I think of you and all the love that's due
I'll make a promise, I'll make a stand
Cos to these big brown eyes, this comes as no surprise
We've got the whole wide world in our hands

Advice for the young at heart
Soon we will be older
When we gonna make it work ?

Love is promise
Love is a souvenir
Once given
Never forgotten, never let it disappear
This could be our last chance
When we gonna make it work ?
Working hour is over

And how it makes me weep
Cos someone sent my soul to sleep

And when I think of you and all the love that's due
I'll make a promise, I'll make a stand
Cos to these big brown eyes, this comes as no surprise
We've got the whole wide world in our hands

Advice for the young at heart
Soon we will be older
When we gonna make it work ?

Working hour is over
We can do anything that we want
Anything that we feel like doing
