Where are you goin' to
What are you gonna do
Do you think that it will be easy
Do you think that it will be pleasin', hey

Stand back, what'd you say
Stand back, I won't pay
Stand back, I'd rather play
Stand back

It's my freedom
Ah, don't worry 'bout me, babe
I got to be free, babe
Hey

Oh, we got to get away
Living in the U.S.A.
Come on baby, Owwww

I see a yellow man, a brown man
A white man, a red man
Lookin' for Uncle Sam
To give you a helpin' hand
But everybody's kickin' sand
Even politicians
We're living in a plastic land
Somebody give me a hand, yeah

Oh, we're gonna make it, baby
Oh, we're going to shake it, baby
Oh, don't break it
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Come on baby, hey
Hey, hey
In the U.S.A., babe yeah

Doot do do do do doot doot
Living in the U.S.A.
Don't worry 'bout me, babe
Doot do do do do doot doot
Living in the U.S.A.

Come on try it, you can buy it, you can leave it next week, yeah
Somebody give me a cheeseburger

PCA DRIVER'S EDUCATION

The Porsche Club of America (PCA) sponsors track events called Driver's Education (DE). This is an opportunity for the consummate sports car enthusiast to learn how to drive their car at or near it's limits in a controlled yet lively track environment.

See my recent write up for the local PCA region's (Florida Citrus Region) newsletter,"The Spiel" here.

ROEBLING ROAD RACE TRACK

Looking at Turn 3:

This popular race track near Savannah, Georgia is where my region (FLORIDA CITRUS) holds it's Driver's Ed events twice a year. The FLORIDA CROWN REGION also holds it's DEs here and they usually have about 4 per year. If you're a PCA member you can attend any region's events, as long as your registration is received by the club's registrar before the event fills up!

In the photo below I am at Turn 9. This is one of the two fastest turns on the course and leads to the front straight!  Going through this turn you are full on the gas, your heart is beating like a bass drum, and sometimes it feels like your wheels are about to fly off !  You're also thinking about passing the slower cars that have been in front of you through the previous set of turns. Scrubbing speed here is not a good thing.

Legendary PCA and POC driver/enthusiast Karen Gallagher, helmet in hand,  saunters down pit road to her track-modified 1971 911T named Stinger. Karen has participated in many track events and is one of the best female drivers ever to take the wheel of a '71 Porsche 911T:

MOROSO RACE TRACK

MOROSO is another popular race track for Porsche owners.

It is located near West Palm Beach, Florida.

That's me (above) coming through Moroso's fastest turn (#10)

which leads to the front straight. Notice the perfect apex/car relationship. This event was hosted by  the nice folks of the  GOLDCOAST REGION who did a great job.

My SC waiting in line to enter the track in the morning. I had just installed a new 934 style front air dam. That yellow car hauler on the left carried some very exotic Porsches to the track that day from Foreign Affairs in Pompano Beach.

Waiting in line (again) for Tech inspection. See the new RS style fiberglass rear bumper that I bought second hand from Byron Von Dwyer of the Florida Crown Region.

While in West Palm Beach at MOROSO, if you stay at the RED ROOF INN, there is a CRACKER BARREL right next door and RACHEL'S

SEBRING RACE TRACK

SEBRING is another popular racetrack in Florida.

Here I am at Sebring in April 2000 with the NSX CLUB

....and again in May 2000 with SUNCOAST REGION

Turn 17 at Sebring can be a little tricky to master. My car appears to be leaning like crazy as I track out and venture forth onto the front straight. I wonder if I had the right line coming through the turn this time.

My vinyl car numbers came from George A. Grenier III at www.fastmeatballs.com

These numbers proved to work very well for me, much better than using magnetic-style or shoe polish applied numbers.  I just put them on for each event and peel them off afterwards, using the original backing paper to store them on. You can choose your font/color when you order them. Look closely and you'll see the white meatball my numbers are printed on. Of course having a white car doesn't accommodate the meatball design much but maybe my next ones will be a little fancier.

Email George at grenier@kennedyfabrications.com for fast service and a great product.
