Sharks At The Lake (2 of 3) - June 17-19, 2005 |
...continued from Page 1 ...Onward to Page 3 Saturday morning there was a nice breakfast spread. From left to right in the mirror behind the coffee, juice, etc that's Cheryl, Peggy, and Jennifer. Peggy and Jennifer again... as you can see, there were plenty of bagels, fruit, danishes, cereal, etc. One thing I discovered in my many years of being a shutterbug... the photographer never has any pictures of himself. George, this one's for you. So at the first stop we all get out to stretch our legs.... jockey for a good position to get pix of the sharks... ...admire the incredible view... Here is a pic of the whole school of sharks with the incredible view of the lake, mountains and sky in the background. Here is a somewhat tighter view of the lake... So finally, we get to that point of the rest stop where everyone has looked around and taken enough pics that we are all kind of standing around trying to figure out what else to take a picture of. Gentlemen, START YOUR ENGINES! Second stop... another shot for George... This stop had an expansive view all the way to Reno. IIRC it was Geiger Lookout Park... If it's not hopefully someone who knows better will help me straighten it out. Nevertheless, it was another great setting for taking shark pics... And more shark pix... "I'm looking for my car... it's a Porsche 928 and I can't seem to find it..." Our next stop was in Virginia City. It's an old mining town, tucked back into the hills northeast of Tahoe. This was the first stop with plumbing, so it took a little longer than the other stops. See that white blazer in the top right? See next pic... Yup, it's a wild bear. Some of us thought he was leaving to warn his buddies about our school of sharks. That seemed not to be the case though... We all took our time a bit, hanging around... ...socializing... ...and then we were off, through downtown Virginia City. At a casual glance it still looks pretty "Old West" except for the power lines, road and cars. Closer examination reveals a bit of a touristy bent(and why not ) So that was it for pix I took on Saturday. It was a terrific Fun Drive, no mishaps and lots of really terrific roads. We had a very fun evening at the dinner party, though my camera battery fritzed out on me. I'm pretty sure George has a ton of pics from Saturday night up on his page.
