The Car

Here I am autocrossing in the fall of 1995.

Some Specs on the car (updated Spring 2001):

• 250 HP from a turbocharged 2.5 liter 4 cylinder with 8 valve head (all stock)
• 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS
• 5 speed transmission with limited slip
• 3000 lbs with 1/4 tank of fuel
• Street wheels are 7" front, 9" rear, forged aluminum, 16" diameter
• Driver Education wheels are 8" front, 9" rear, cast magnesium, 16" diameter
• Driver Education wheels are three piece BBS, 8" front, 9.5" rear, 17" diameter
• Race wheels are three piece BBS, 8" front, 9.5" rear, 17" diameter
• Race wheels are three piece Complete Custom Wheel, 8.5" front, 10" rear, 17" diameter
• Rain tires (street tires) are Bridgestone RE-71, 225/50 front, 245/45 rear.
• Driver Ed tires are Kumho V700, 245/45-17 front, 275/45-17 rear.
• Race tires are Hoosier R3S03 DOT Radial, 245/40-17 front, 275/40-17 rear

For Racing, the following improvments have been made:

• Safety Devices roll cage
• Kirkey aluminum race seat
• IO Port Racing seat back brace
• Autopower 5 point harness
• Autopro window net
• Autopro electric kill switch
• Porsche Motorsports sway bars -30mm front, 20mm rear
• Performance Friction PF90 brake pads
• Open exhaust system (no catalytic converter or muffler)

The following improvements are planned for spring '00:

• Weltmeister Strut Brace

• "Turbo Cup" suspension

    Bilstein front struts with 410 lb / in springs

    Bilstein rear shocks with 200 lb / in helper springs

The following improvements were done spring '01: Read about them here

• Racer's Edge Castor Blocks
• RE-indexed rear Torsion Bar
• Delrin rear spring plate bushing
• New wheels from Complete Custom Wheel. A front 17 X 8.5 with Hoosier R3S03 weighs 38.5 lbs!
• Hot Lap timer (not really an improvement, but it is different)

In June, 2001, I blew my head gasket the Watkins Glen club race.
