The Great 2.0 Adventure

A bit dirty

I got a little dirty.

Long, long story short, I dropped my first engine using the Pelican Parts method in just over four hours. Not bad. It took a while to prep the "new" engine...I didn't break it down (talk about a wing and a prayer) but it needed a really good cleaning. I was using my borrowed garage while housesitting so I had somewhat of a time crunch for getting the new one installed. I sold a lot of parts from the old system to finance the new stuff, but finances were getting tight too. I was still having a blast. My new (at the time) girlfriend kept me company during that long July weekend when I almost got heatstroke installing the bugger, and even figured out how to get the tranny mounted to the engine when I couldn't. Toolwenches everywhere, unite!

dolly

I was scattered all over this poor guy's garage and yard. Good thing I was his crew chief when I wasn't playing 914 doctor or he would have tossed the lot of us out! Above is the new engine, old transmission, oil, tools...it goes on. Note the fan with many missing blades, bottom center.

dramatic moment

This was a dramatic moment--2.0L and Feurig meet for the first time. They're still working out how they feel about each other.
