Sharktoberfest 2004 (3 of 3) - Oct 22-24, 2004

Thanks to everyone, organizers and participants alike, for making this such an incredible event. Keith, Dan, Mark, Carl, Jim, etc. etc. Thank you folks especially. Keith has thanked contributors in more detail here and I'd like to echo those sentiments.

Anyway, on to the rest of the pics...

This T has been done in the raw, classic 60's style -- dual carbs, straight pipes, slicks...

A trio of custom 32 rods.

This car was built for Nicholas Cage. Yeah, yeah, I know, big deal. Just FYI.

Nice, sleek looking roadster

Chopped & channeled flaming coupe.

Now this was an odd beast. Dual v8's, each with dual 4 barrels on cross-ram intakes.

It would probably be insane to try to drive this car though. The seating position must be excruciating. Yes, those are the seat bottoms sticking up. I bet your knees would get in the way of steering.

It had an odd rear suspension setup, with only a lower control arm. With 2 V8s cranking against it, I bet it was squirrely beyond belief.

It's interesting how it was put together with two diffs, implying two transmissions... no wonder it needs 8 beefy coilovers!

OK, back through the shark display, heading for the "French Curves" exhibit. Gorgeous S4!

I don't remember what this little gem is exactly, but it sure is gorgeous!

I'm not sure just what these next three cars are exactly but I think they are different year Talbot Lagos. Anyone who knows, feel free to shoot me a line. The burgundy and black ones are interesting, early examples of hidden headlights.

1939 Delahaye type 165, V12 powered with a metal cover over the retracted top, and a windshield that could be lowered with a hand crank..

One of three surviving 1938 Delahaye Competition Coupes.

These next couple cars somehow make me think of a candy store.

Now this is a true land yacht. I don't know what it is, but it's beautiful!

Full size Hot Wheels Deora 2.

This 1937 Delage sold for $9000 when new. Wasn't that about the price of a house back then?

Bugatti Coupe

Back outside -- the lot had really filled up by now.

Dan Bise is busted, taping graffiti to the wall.

A motorcycle club shared the rooftop with us.

A view down toward the vendor tables. Extra tables were set up and lunch was served under the parking structure to the right of the bikes in this pic.

This is the shark that really ought to have been on display inside, but apparently the guy had left Saturday before anyone could tell him.

This car was gorgeous -- aftermarket mats, but all else seemed original.

It's like a time capsule...

There was some discussion about the car's history...

And even a mild argument about the paint; a couple guys thought they could see tape lines, the owner insisted it had never been painted, he was the original owner. Doesn't matter... It 's a gorgeous car.

At the end of it all, everyone was dog tired from having so much fun, including Rich and his dog Luna. I really look forward to future SoCal events -- you guys know how to party!
