Devek Days 2004, at the shop (1 of 2) - August 7, 2004

I didn't take any pics at the cafe where we joined up for dinner Friday Night. I think others on Rennlist took lots of pics at the dinner though, hopefully they will post them. The link to their original event page is here.

George Suennen took lots of pics, posted here. Any names or details I've left out, please contact me and I'll add them. Too much going on to remember everything...

Big, big thanks to all the Devek crew and all of the terrific people that made this event so fun. There was far too much going on to get pix of everything, but from these pages hopefully you can get a taste. The pics are mostly in the order that I took them. Now, on to the pics:

7:48 AM, Seth... do you know where your Wax is?

A steady stream of sharks begins to arrive.... Here's Tim and Cheryl Dey backing their gorgeous GTS into a spot:

Hey Seth, you missed a spot... Also shown, Tim Dey getting situated.

I love to rib Seth about the fact that I always see him with one detailing product or another in his hands. But the fact is, his shark is the most perfect looking example I've seen. Just look at this engine bay:

George is another early arrival. Note the bugs on the mirror...

And here comes Ron. Why does he look so serious? Maybe he thinks he's still airborne...

Richard Sanders of Sacramento arrives...

A quick shot of the local track beasts, Devek "White Car" in foreground.

...And here comes Susan Thomas. She has spied a sucker, someone with nothing better to do than snap pictures. She smiles as if to say, "Won't you pleeeease help me put up this awning?". No prob... a smile like that goes a long way.

Apparently these folks have been working on 928s too long... this car was in for a new battery and last I checked they still hadn't found it.

Looks Like Dennis K is providing an object lesson that you can't expect to keep the paint looking spiffy on a seriously driven track car.

Inside view of yellow track beast shown above.

Sterling's stroker... don't let the mild exterior fool you...

Ron is given the task of counting the staples left in the stapler. "And here, while you're at it, staple these pieces of paper together..."

Susan demonstrating her unique ability to telekinetically push sharks sideways away from reserved parking spots

Another shark arrives, this one with an unusual hood treatment.

Here is a pasted-together panorama inside the Devek shop:

Somebody told me that this is one of Mark's race engines, but I don't have any more details than that.

And again:

And Again:

The Racer's Group Lemans winner...

And inside...

And the rear...

Um, yah. That goes in my car... the black 78 up front. Thanks much, seeya, bye...

Oh, and while you're at it that tranny looks good too.

Show and tell, destroyed block:

Mark brakes the news about caliper options

Yet another transmission

George Suennen shows off his bug collection, picked up mostly north of 120MPH in the Bonneville 100 race:

George's engine bay with SC setup:

Another angle:

This is a gorgeous S4. I'm having a brain fart on the owner's name, which is really unfortunate as he and his lady were very nice people that I was fortunate enough to sit with at Sunday's breakfast on the fun drive.

Here is Keith Widom's engine compartment. It's simply incredible how he's made it look. That's Kibort's old powder coated intake. I think Keith and Randy need to park next to each other at Sharktoberfest! I love the old spiders.

Keith ponders what to polish next, while Dr Bob(left) is attracted by the incredibly shiny object(s)...

Most of the shark gawking stopped for a few minutes when Fred showed up in his immaculate 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT2+2. The pic is a bit fuzzy but you can see how this car turns heads. Marc points out a prime spot to park it.

This car is just plain cool from every angle.

Very nice wheels.

Brian Varma offers guidance.

Fred and his car, showing how easy it is to look like a rock star next to your rare Lambo:

The engine looks gorgeous, DOHC V12 with 6 Dual-throat Weber side-drafts. Fred says the carbs need to come off to adjust the exhaust valves. Sounds like a nightmare to me, but Fred says he doesn't mind. On second thought, maybe I wouldn't either.

From the other side... nice symmetry...

Unlike the 928, the Lambo has an answer to the question "WTF is that?"
