1987
Delivered new as a lease to the PO from Dealer # 1848 (New York,
NY - Manhattan Motorcars?) on June 11, 1987. The car spent
the first part of its life in Connecticut. Garaged &
never winter driven, it was serviced at Continental Motors in
Fairfield. The stamps in the service book show decent
service intervals for its early years.
2000
It moved to Florida in 2000 to the PO's wife’s (now ex - but
friendly) condo in Pompano Beach & its role was switched from
a 'summer' car to a 'winter' car. It got its 60K mile
service at Champion Porsche that same year.
2001
The PO finally bought out the lease in 2001. Around this
time, it received a re-spray on the hood & fenders - typical
stone chips on the hood & a small fender RF crinkle by the
daughter was the instigation. That incident required a new
7Jx15 Fuchs too. Also evident is a less successful earlier
cosmetic 'touch-up' of the doors. The rear is original and
in good shape & a new top was installed at some point.
2004
I first saw & drove it in July ‘04. See The
Hunt for My Porsche It was finally delivered Aug 27,
2004. It needed brakes, rotors, new tires & multiple
small things to make it drivable. See Putting
It On the Road
2005
Not a Sunday car that is only pulled out of the garage for waxing
& concours. In the first year of driving, I have driven
in rain on at least 50% of my long runs, and even been in a
hailstorm on the SW Ontario Run in May. Despite being stored
from mid-Nov to mid-April, I have added 3500 miles to the odo in
my first 18 months.
2006
This year sees
another 3K + added. Front tires were changed to 205/50 - a
slightly lower profile.
2007
Not as much driving this year, but I did squeak by 70,000
miles. New stereo was added for the long hauls.
2008
Another useless driving year. I worked every long
weekend. The weather was crap. And my car was on
jackstands for the front suspension rebuild until mid-June.
