OK, I just bought a new digital camera. I'll have photos up soon.

1989 944 Turbo S - March 2003

I bought the car from the original owner in 2001. He had tried to take care of the car but farmed out all work no matter how small so it cost him quite a bit. I'm just a little better! :-)

I have liked the look of the 944 since I was 14 back in 1982. I believe that since all 944/951 cars need regular maintenance (control arms, water pumps, timing belts, etc.) I should get a Turbo S which might keep its value longer. We'll see.

When I bought the car, the shop that did a pre-purchase inspection was lame and missed the fact that the timing belt had oil on it from a leaking gasket. That called for new belt and rollers when I got the car home.

Here's a shot of the engine bay. The car is still in its stock configuration and runs great. I'm using Red Line Oil and the previous owner did too.

I replaced the exhaust with a Speed Force Racing cat-back unit. It's stainless steel and has a larger diameter pipe for reduced turbo lag and a little louder sound. I noticed slightly better throttle response even off boost.

The interior was in nice shape. Very little sun fade except on the floor mats (which I replaced), and the dash is crack-free. The OE radio was not working so I replaced the deck with a CD player, and the cubby under it with a trio of gauges.
