Usually
it's About the People
But today it's definitely about the cars. You may see the
occasional face in these photos, but clearly I was
focused on the cars themselves. We didn't think to get a
full group picture of the people involved, but
other folks made sure to get shots of drivers about to
mash the pedal down as well as speedo shots. A nice bunch
of folks.2-pedal
Dyno Runs
A note about the automatics on the dyno: We ran the
automatics in 'D' starting at 40 mph. (The 5-speeds also
started at 40 mph in 5th gear.) It appears that all but
two of the automatics dropped to 2nd gear and held until
red line or cut-off. Chris' and Oscar's cars ran through
2-3-4 during their runs as one would expect on the road.
I don't know
why this didn't occur in the other A/T's (mine included)
and haven't had an opportunity yet to test this behavior
on real pavement.
I'm not yet
ready to label this a problem as other interesting
"failures" occurred while on the dyno, at least
according to dashboard lights: antilock, differential,
and speedometer shutdown.
