WINDSHIELD WASHER SYSTEM

This page just shows a few schematics of the WINDSHIELD washer system as well as the high intensity pump. The main washer tank is hidden behind the passenger side (US) front wheel well cover. In that location you will find the headlight washer pipeline as well. The high intensity tank is under the rainshield on the drivers side.

this picture is courtesy of Wally P. at 928 Specialists...the added text is my doing. It shows the actual tubing, check valves and fittings invloved. ALL THIS GET CRAMMED INSIDE THE HOOD

This is the original schematic of the system

This is MY modification. 2 less checkvalves, a lot less tubing and a heck of a lot easier to get into the hood openings! ...and as far as i can tell, it works fine!

Below are some pictures i tookof the high intensity washer pump and the fix for my leak.

My tank wasnt holding fluid and i discovered the leak was around the rubber gasket at the base of the motor (in orange). Also, after the leak was fixed, when the pump ran, it ran at a really high rpm and wouldnt pump any fluid. I discovered that the motor shaft was spinning INSIDE the pump blade. The quick fix for this was some epxoy, after i got the pump and the motor separated.

shows where the tank is located. 1 10mmbolt holds it in place, then it slides off. The motor has 2 connections....1 electrical..the other the hose line.

this shows the motor separated from the lower half/pump casing. The black "T" on its side attatched to the motor is the pump blade. It just slides on and off the shaft of the motor. Mine was stripped slightly so a dose of epoxy inside the "T" on the shaft cured that in fine order! I sealed it back together with some sealant.

this shows the entire pump assembly. The pump drops into the hole in the tank. The orange grommet seals and holds the pump in place. This is where your system will leak most likely. I cured this by a healthy dose of Silicone sealant/adhesive and sliding pump back into place..

Once it all cured...i filled up the tank...pressed the high intensity button and everything worked as advertised...even the check valves!!!!

BTW...(remember..your headlight washers only work with the lights UP)
