Sharks At The Lake (Sunday) - June 16-18, 2006 |
...continued from Saturday Sunday Morning, here is the view onto the balcony where the reception was from my room. And here is a view from the balcony, showing a bit of the terrific view. Having checked out, packed the car, etc. we were off on the Sunday morning drive, which was to circle the lake clockwise. The scenery was fabulous, and while I did make several attempts to get pics of it I've only posted the least blurry pics. Despite the bugs on the windshield the view was incredible. For most of the drive we were getting views like this... There was of course some traffic to maneuver around, but it wasn't ever a problem. I was lucky enough to spot the one open parking spot inside the Emerald Bay overlook area, and so had a unique perspective of being able to see an overview of other folks parking and getting out of their cars.... Sometimes when you're swimming in a school of sharks you forget how gorgeous these cars are until you step back. No, scratch that... how can anyone ever forget how gorgeous these cars are? Emerald Bay is a really beautiful place. The mountains rise up steeply from the water, whose deep green color earned it the name. It's really a special place -- unfortunately pictures don't even begin to do it justice. Tim and Cheryl were kind enough to let us invade their house. The house seems very low key from this angle but has many levels to it -- plenty of room for a sharkaholics BBQ! There was plenty of room for our cars under the "No Parking" sign. The view out the living room window is terrific -- I bet it's amazing in winter, before the snow piles up and blocks the view. An interesting wood sculpture on Tim & Cheryl's mantle... A look at the nearest peak... After lunch and watching a little racing on the tube, it was time to head home. Tired as I was when I started, I was somewhat refreshed by this point, which was a good thing. 3-1/2 hours to home, and the movers were to arrive Monday morning. That's another story though. Suffice to say my shark remained dirty for the next couple of weeks, and I still had a grin plastered to my face from SATL. Thanks again, Tim & Cheryl! ...continued from Saturday |
