RS Lightweight Carpet

The primary reason for me choosing the RS Carpet set is to keep the look consistent and reduce the weight.  I had charcoal gray carpeting with black vinyl.  As I progressed during the project the rear seat area began to look very dated and no longer matched the very purposeful “racer” look of the front passenger area.  By this time I had installed the Sparco EVO seats, drilled floorboards, aluminum pedals and the Momo steering wheel.  The rear seats and carpets had to go.

I looked around for some recommendations for interior carpeting and decided to go with Original Fit Interiors’ RS Lightweight kit.  The most frustrating part is the complete lack of instructions.   I having thrown out the previous carpeting and had no idea how it fit further complicating this effort.  Luckily, I was able to find some carpet installation how-to’s in the Pelican Technical section.  There was still some head scratching and trial fitting required.  In the end it turned out relatively well, with the exception of the wheel arch carpeting that just didn’t fit and I didn’t know how to adjust it until well after the installation was completed.  Someday I might replace the wheel arch trim but it is acceptable for now.

The final results were good.
