This is a simple DIY procedure that increases the sound of the intake air at high engine rpms.  It gives the car a MUCH throatier sound.  It is recommended for all 993 cars without the motorsound option.
There are of course other options to achieve the same effect.  You could buy an aftermarket airbox cover from Performance for $175 +/- or a factory motorsound airbox cover for even more money.  This is the most economical method to achieve the same results.
The procedure is simple.  Remove the airbox cover by releasing the two wire lever holders.  Pull the hose off the front of the airbox.  Now remove the cover and lay it down.

Get your drill and drill some holes - the more holes the louder the sound.  I did mine to mimic the factory location, but I used a much larger drill bit so I did not have to drill as many holes.  Make certain you clean out the drilled plastic so you don't clog your air filter.

Now reverse the removal procedure and reinstall the cover and enjoy the sound of your new engine!
