So I'm crawling around under the car and I notice this
little half-moon like cutout. I can't quite tell if the car is
designed this way, or one of the POs wanted the lighten the car :).
Believe me...this car seems to have had owners that had cut a few
corners...so this isn't a stretch. BTW, if you're trying to figure
out what exactly I'm looking at...I'm looking up and the underside of the
motor. The muffler is at the top of the picture and the sump screen
would be a couple inches below the bottom of the picture.

This picture, along with the next one, are fine
examples of how well this car has been cared for. Notice the chunk
that missing right below 12 o'clock on this picture. It may help to
click on the picture to bring up a larger version of the image.
Location wise, the left chain cover can be seen on the left edge of the
picture. So we're at the very front of the motor here (rear of the
car).

Another angle of the missing magnesium. Can you see where the bolt
should go? I assume this is a textbook example of someone
overtightening a bolt in a magnesium case. |

The oil cooler looks ok.
Nice and clean. Now if I could get around to replacing all of the
oil lines and fittings. |

Messy seepage. I think the two halves of the case need to be
re-sealed. FYI, I spent about an hour cleaning this up.
Hopefully I'll get a better handle on where the oil is seeping from (not
oil return tubes, already replaced them).
