About Sharon & Jerry

We are both originally from Indiana, she from the north and he from the south.  The twain was met at good ol' Ball State University.  Thirty-four years of marriage has created our family of two children and three grandchildren.

Sharon was a first grade teacher for 23 years, but retired upon our move to Missouri five years ago.  Retirement provided her the opportunity to release her pent up art passions.  During the past five years, she has immersed herself in painting.  Watercolors were her first choice but it was not long before she had to try her hand at painting with oils.  She studied for about a year and half with a local teacher who specialized in oils.  Before long she was proficient in both, entered some local arts shows, won some awards and has found her new life.  Her art led her to discover kindred spirits, who soon became new friends.  Now she is so busy that she doesn't have time to have a job!!  And she is enjoying every minute of it.

Jerry is the reason we moved to Missouri as a promotion beckoned.  He is the general  manager at a local factory.  While Sharon's passion is art, Jerry's passion has been cars, especially German cars. His first sports car was a 1967 427/390hp Corvette Roadster purchased in 1975.  The die was cast!

German cars were discovered in 1977 in the form of the then all new Porsche 924.  In 1978, Porsche owning  led to the local Porsche club of which we are still members.  Prior to our move to Missouri, we were very active in the local Porsche club.  Jerry served as newsletter editor, president, vice president, and about any other title that was available.  While helping out with club activities was fun and led to many friendships, driving the cars was the reason he joined.  Within a month after joining the club, he enjoyed his first autocross.

Sharon soon became bored watching Jerry have all of the fun and became an avid autocrosser as well. Now that she also shared the passion for driving, preparing the car was an easy sell.  Her only question upon hearing about the latest planned upgrade was, "Will it go faster??"

Autocrossing led to driver's education events, being a driving instructor, and then to club racing in two of the first three Porsche Club Races.  Owning Porsches has provided the opportunity to drive at speed on some of the most famous race tracks in America.  Driving at tracks like Road America, Road Atlanta, Sebring, Mid-Ohio, Laguna Seca, etc. is a dream come true!  Life is good!
