Oil Cooler Lines

During my autocross on July 13 I found that the oil temperature was up to 240 deg. after the first run. It was an extremely hot and humid day (98/98) and I had no external oil cooler so this is not too surprising. The high engine temperatures resulted in very rough, slow idle and I had a hard time keeping the engine going at the end of each run. So I decided I needed to put in an external cooler and after quite a bit of searching found a good deal on a set of lines.

I got a good price but as usual that means there is some work that needs to be done. One of the lines was crushed badly in several places. I ended up cutting out the complete length running under the car for that side and brazing in a new section of copper pipe.

Crushed original oil line.

New line next to original.

At this point I have the lines and temporarily I will use the trombone cooler that was with them orignally. I plan to put everything in after I pull the engine, clean it, set the valve clearances, and replace some gaskets.

All great but if you look carefully in the picture above there is one last little uh-ohh. The unattached fitting in the picture above is the end of the line from the thermostat which should attach to the return line from the oil pump. This return line is also visible but notice there is no mating fitting (ooops). So now I need to find used oil return line from a '74 or later model, or cut the line I have and braze the correct fitting on the end. Anyone know where I can find either the fittings or a cheap used line??????
