The Open and Shut case of the missing stock muffler.

This muffler's a bit different.  Read on.

From the normal view it's similar to the stock muffler although bigger.

As we get down lower, it's noticeably 'bigger'.

A littler lower we see the resonator hanging off the back of the muffler. It's actually 2 separate pieces.  One could order just the muffler and put a stock pipe on the back of it.

Now things are getting interesting. Notice the RED knob on the side of the muffler. This little jewel changes the exhaust from it's normal path thru the muffler, to a totally straight through path. The two units basically become one long resonator. I will be adding some sound files to give an idea of what the difference is.  But basically, closed, it's a nice mellow 'slightly' noisy exhaust that doesn't annoy anyone. My wife noticed that it was louder, but didn't complain. (I have a great wife). Driving at freeway speeds, it's hard to tell that it's not stock. Now, when we open up the exhaust, sitting still there is a sound difference but it's not a lot.  Once we're under load, there is a big difference.  A friend drove my car yesterday, he noticed that the turbo kicked in a bit quicker. I feel the same. This doesn't sound like a stock muffler, and it doesn't sound like a Honda mobile. It sounds great. Plus it gives me the advantage of opening it up when I want to (which is all the time) and closing it when I should (which is most of the time). The price isn't cheep, but most good mufflers for the 951 aren't either. If you're interested, check it out at www.powereffects.com . I have no affiliation with this company whatsoever. They just make a quality product that I'm happy with.

Check out my racing page, I have a video with sound that will give you an idea.  BTW, Manuela's car has a Flowmaster muffler if you want to compare the sound difference.

Disclaimer:  Remember, loud to me is probably not the same as loud for most people. I ran around for 3 months without a muffler on my Nissan Maxima, "because it sounds cool"

Disclaimer 2: Remember this too.  The stock muffler is about the best muffler made. It has little or no restriction and is quiet. Cars are out there making big horsepower thru the stock mufflers.  I changed my for the sound!
