RUNNING REPORT 9
BACKGROUND:
- Due to a mischievous collector, the
front bonnet badge was stolen. Thankfully, limited damage was done to the
paintwork. Whilst momentarily considering the replacement of the badge with
the a RUF badge, it was decided that this would be slightly pretentious
given that the car doesn't actually have any RUF equipment on it (at the
moment!).
WORK DONE:
- The badge replacement was a five
minute job, given no repainting was required of the bonnet. The updated 993
style badge was chosen (embossed, covered red and black stripes).
On the left is the original 964
bonnet badge, whilst on the right you see the new 993 version.
- Whilst the car was at the service
centre, the car would not start properly (an old problem of the car
mentioned in previous Running Reports). This was indeed opportune, as the
service technician was immediately able to identify that the problem was
related to a leaking fuel valve. This will be replaced at a future service.
POST SERVICE SYNOPSIS:
- Well, the badge is back, and the nice
guys at the service centre have yet to charge me for it.
- Now, the question is when do I send
the car in for that starting problem (which really isn't chronic yet).
