RUNNING REPORT 1
BACKGROUND:
- It was
noted that the car would stall regularly, and required a degree of gas
whenever in neutral to keep it from stalling.
- As a result, the automobile was
immediately sent for a general service and tune up.
WORK DONE:
- Diagnosis was simple, the fuel/air
mixture was incorrect, and as a result a simple tune up alleviated the
problem.
- At the same time engine oil was
replaced (Caltex Havoline fully synthetic), as was the oil filter and
transmission oil.
- Total billing came to SGD445.
- However, it was noted that there were
some minor oil leaks in the front oil pipe attaching to the front right oil
cooler, as well as a minor leak from the upper and lower valve covers of the
engine. It was determined that these did not need to be changed immediately.
Engine view after the first
service (completely stock). Note the airbox system, which may at a later stage
be upgraded to the 993 type mechanism for added power (this issue will be
discussed in more detail in a later Running Report).
POST SERVICE SYNOPSIS:
- No further problems of stalling at
the moment, although at startup the engine sometimes appears to rev
irratically, revs dipping dangerously low for the first few seconds of start
up.
- May look into the irratic start up
idle.
