| One of my Porsche projects was a "wheel scale"...a tool for weighing
each of the wheels on a car to be sure that they each support the car equally
(side-to-side). I did this years ago...notice the surface rust on the finger?
It uses a "Porta-Power" hydraulic cylinder to lift a steel finger that
is inserted into the center of each wheel. I had to make a special insert
for the front wheels of the 914, because the bearing cap pretty much fills
the hole and there was little room for the finger to be inserted. The insert
fits into the center hole of the wheel and straddles the bearing cap. |
