Ever curse the lack of a "hub-centric" boss on your rear hubs on your
914 (if you have an early model, you curse the lack on both ends of the
car!)? Lack of these bosses makes it difficult to get the wheel positioned correctly in order to start the lug bolts.
I have @#$%ed the omission on the rear hubs many times. I finally decided to do something about it, so
I designed small Aluminum rings that press into the rear hubs and provide
a centering boss that's identical in function to the ones on the front
hubs. Now when I install the rear wheels, they don't fall off and require
them to be lifted into position and held there while the bolts are screwed
in. BTW...the ring is only partially inserted in the picture. They are
retained by small O-rings in grooves in the ring flanges. |
