Our Porsche 944S

Wheels off

This is one of our (OK, probably Chris') toys. It is a 1987 U.S. specification 944S which we bought while on assignment in Missouri and brought back to the UK with us.

At Castlewood

The 944 is reputed to be one of the finest handling cars in the world, the perfect weight balance front to back being an important reason. The engine is a normally aspirated 2.5 litre, 4 cylinder, 16 valve with the most wonderful exhaust note. I know some modern hot hatches have more power but hell, for me this is a proper sports car.

I love driving the car but one of the most important aspects is the friends we have made; as members of the St Louis Porsche Club of America, on Rennlist and at events like the Tweeks Funfest. We are looking forward to similar times in the UK.

We have had the usual 944 issues of clicking CV joints and bad earths, while also doing the smart maintenance such as cam and balance shaft belts, rollers, chain tensioner, brake bleeding, clutch bleeding and a lot more. We will put up some details as soon as I get chance.
