Beer, Wings and Flat Sixes Night

In early February, eight like-minded Porsche lovers gathered at Leny's Automega for what is hopefully a regular evening of informal chatter and camaraderie. The highlight of the evening was a tour of Leny's showroom and shop led by resident Porsche guru, Jay Lloyd's. Jay has over 27 years experience building and racing Porsches. No finer gentleman can be found in the automotive business.

Definitely not a Porsche. Jay shows us his hand-built, one-off prototype of a Motion Concept Vehicle (MCV). Read more about Canada's ill-fated supercar by clicking here.

Jay wowed us with three 911 engines that he is currently building and two that he is upgrading/repairing. All of them started out as normally aspirated, air-cooled 911 engines. I am no mechanic nor did I take notes so my captions may not be 100% accurate. Please correct me if you know better.

3.2 Carrera engine with turbo and Electromotive ignition system. Everything hand-built including intercoolers which are modified Maserati parts. 300+ hp at the wheels. 915 transmission means the boost is limited at .6 bar.

3.6 993 motor. Electromotive ignition, turbo to be added. Everything blueprinted. Can't remember the hp rating but it was a lot.

Jay's very own 964 motor with twin turbos. 710 hp at the wheels. Jay offered to take us for rides in his car in the spring. The lineup is already forming.

Group photo in front of a very nice 993 Turbo.
The beer and wings part. Mike joins us at this point having just finished welding something or other on his restoration job. Hockey fight photos are required by law in all Canadian restaurants.

Many thanks to Jay and Leny Rabbito of Leny's Automega. Leny's is a sports and exotic car dealership and service shop. They did outstanding work on my old Alfa and on my current 911. I also know several Ferrari and Lamborgini owners who swear by them. I highly recommend them. Leny can be reached at 416-201-0102 and is located on Evans Ave between Kipling and Islington.
