Keith Newby's 1967 911S

I took these pics of some of the detail work on this car, #308468S, which Keith has been restoring in his spare time for 17 years (in between doing some motorcycles as well) here in San Diego. He brought it into my mechanic, Steve Grosekemper, at Dieter's to have an alignment done now that the suspension is back together. There are still some bits and pieces to finish up on it, but Keith hopes to have it on the road this summer after a LONG hibernation in his garage. I spoke to him on the phone about it, and the car seems to have an interesting history. I hope to interview him further and write an article about the project. His webpage is here.

It has the rare rear wiper option and is a sunroof coupe.

Note the lettering on the old CA black plate. New SSIs are installed instead of stock heat exchangers.

Non-stock air cleaners, but you could eat off the engine.

Every suspension component has been powder-coated or cad-plated.

You could eat off the undertray, too. Original 4.5" Fuchs have been replaced with deep 6s, but he also has a set of the original 7" steel wheels which were fitted on the car for racing in it's early days.

The headlight bucket and horn assembly, looking forward in the front wheel well.

Exposed front strut assembly. Even the brake pad tension plate has been silver cad-plated.

The Webasto heater is fully restored in the "smuggler's box" as well. This car also had A/C, which is not yet installed.

Strut perch and bolts are powder-coated and plated as well. I wish my trunk looked this good!
