Beetle 1200 Engine

I've been using all the reference materials I can find, mainly my Muir book, but I've been using the recent magazine articles on engine rebuilds also.  I'll be needing to find a shop that can machine the parts back into spec, so I may get the parts for my 1600 machined at the same time to save a trip.

Here are the 3-4 cylinders and head from the 1200.  Looks like there was a large head leak on this side.  You can also see that is still has 10mm head studs.  This head will need to be machined to make a good mating surface again.

This is the 1-2 side of the 1200, sealing surfaces look much better, but will probably need to be machined to match the other side.

The 3 and 4 pistons look to have some leakage around the rings.   Don't know if the pistons and cylinders can be used again with new rings.  The cylinders still show honing marks.  I should probably use the new set I got last week.

I still need to decide if I should split the case halves.  I'll be pouring through the reference books to check for wear information to make that decision.
