  In the factory race cars, first is typically only used from a stop.
Once racing, all gear changes were between 2-5, so those gears were
put into the H pattern for quicker shifting.

  In the 928, engineers felt that once warmed up, the engine had enough
torque to start from second, so once again first was placed out of the
way and 2-5 were put into the H.
