I think it is the radiant heat from the exhaust and
engine that eats these rubber power steering hoses up.
This is one of the few 928 hoses that my local dealer
actually stocks.

After mine also failed within 2 years, I took my old
hose to a local Aeroquip dealer and industrial hose
maker who remade it with a teflon lined-stainless
steel braided hose for about $35. That was in 1995 so
far so good.
