Your 86 should have one electric fan in front of the AC condensor, and one belt driven fan on a viscous clutch. The S4s have no fan in front of the AC condensor, and two electric fans behind the radiator. ~Merry motoring~ From: Ed Ruiz [eds928gt@yahoo.com] Sent: Monday, September 04, 2000 4:11 AM To: 928 Subject: [928] Re: S3 or S4? Although the "S3" designation was never used in the States, all 85 & 86 928s are "S3s". In '86 they installed S4 brakes on cars with a VIN that ends higher than 999. However, they did not change the body style, reduce the CD, improve the intake system or make any changes to the engine. Therefore, you could say your 86.5 is an "S3.49" (which still rounds off to "S3"). YMMV.
