Is the cleaner added to the gasoline? Chevron Techron is made for use in your gas tank as an additive to your fuel. It will wash over the fuel system surfaces and loosen carbon deposits and fuel grime throughout the system. Cleaning kits are sold for mechanics to use where a concentrate is used as a replacement to gasoline while the engine runs. This usually means opening the fuel system in the engine bay. This process will not clean the fuel lines from the tank, but will clean clogged injectors. It is recommended to put a can of Techron in, then fill the tank with a specified volume of fuel. The trick is not to go out on the highway and run the tank down to empty, but rather make short trips around town. Stopping allows the cleaner to remain in contact with the valve surfaces and injector nozzles to help dissolve deposits. Also, NEVER, leave Techron or any cleaner in when you store your car over the winter or other times. The cleaner will have a deleterious effect on the fuel system rubber goods. Is it based on mileage, years on the engine, both? I haven't seen a definitive answer to that, I personally pour in a bottle about every 6 months. >Or when you notice some misbehavior from the engine. It would be too late at that point if the misbehavior is fuel injector related. While Techron can help keep your injectors clean it cannot perform miracles and clean out really clogged injectors. For that you will need to remove them and have them professional cleaned by someone like Marren Motorsports www.injector.com David Roberts 928 SPECIALISTS Phone: (770) 928-4777 Fax: (770) 592-4608 Website: http://www.928GT.com or www.928.cc E-Mail: 928@928GT.com
