Mobil 1 From page 17-10 in the manual: The oil check valve prevents the oil from flowing back out of the cylinder head, thus assuring the operation of the hydraulic valve tappets. If the valve tappets chatter as the engine turns over just after starting, it is essential to clean the check valve. Pull the valve cover. The valve is in a boss at the front lower corner of the head. Turn the lock screw located on the side of the head out two turns. Screw a M 6 x 40 bolt into the guide and pull it out. Pull the spring and ball out with a magnet. Clean the ball, spring, seat, guide and tube. Be careful to avoid damaging the seat. Reassemble with a new o-ring. Tighten lock screw to 2.8 ft/lb.
