Introduced in 1981 "the intake tubes are designed with Venturi nozzles to
effectively dampen the engine's intake noise ." "due to the aerodynamic
shape the air stream is not restricted . Sound waves , which are pressure
impulses from the engine against the direction of air stream flow are
reflected "inward" on the inside walls of the tapered nozzles and prevented
from reaching the intake opening in the cars front end" . ...as on earlier
models air is drawn from the housing for cooling of the toothed
