I assume these bulbs are on the lamps check circuit.? I dont have a fault showing. The koinky dink in all this is that my PRND32 lights have never work since ive owned the car. Based on this, my guess is the switching/signal mechansim on the tranny is bad? Any ideas? Where is this little switch? thankya Tony 1987 S4 Auto, silver/grey, Auto http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh http://www.p-caronline.com/directory/v1uhoh/ Las Vegas Tony, the reserse bulbs are not in the check circuit as far as I know. There is a relay XXII that turns on the light thru a switch (I have M249, but the M481 is a bit different). The relay is at the relay panel (where else..) and it is triggered by the backuplight switch at the tranny. This switch is next to the control-pressure arm and combined with the device that blocks starting while tranny not in P or N. The PRND32 is switched on the same assembly. It is very possible that is is not powered at all since no lights work in the dash. The switch connects directly to the dash. Check if U24 is 12volt while in reverse. That should engage the relay. If not, the problem may be a lack of 12 volt at the tranny switch. The switch is powered via a 2 pin connector on the dash assembly. If the connector is loose or has bad contact, you will have no reverse light or gear indicator lights. So the problems mat very well be associated. I've had loose contacts at the relay socket one time. On the other hand..... bulbs could be bad. I have just 3 working bulbs (yet another task) ;-) Hope that helps.... regards, Theo '88 928s4 cherry red The Netherlands http://home.wxs.nl/~Jennit/Porsche.htm
