I suppose a quick call or email to them might reveal the answer. True HID systems are single filament and typically used for Low beam only, you lose high beams when replacing a dual filament bulb like the ones in our 928s. This can be over come easily on the S4 and later 928s (and early Euros) since the driving lights come on automatically with your high beams. When HIDs are used with 100 watt bulbs in the driving lights your will not miss the high beams of the original headlights. The HIDs must be wired to always be on anyway and the driving lights would light up beyond the HIDs for high beam mode when you select High beam. An impressive lighting combo that works very well ! The best pricing I have found for true complete HID bulb Kits is approx. $574 for the kit at www.HIDS4less.com (not an endorsement, just results of some research) and installation is easy. Beware of the $37 "HID Xenon" light kits sold in various places, these are just standard bulbs with blue coating on them and are actually dimmer than standard bulbs. A prime example of marketing BS ! True HID bulbs are typically 35 watt and have a separate ballast/igniters. FYI, The main reason HIDs are only used for Low beams (and are on all the time when the headlights are on) is the slow startup time you experience when turning them on due to the striking time of the ballast and the "heatup" of the gas inside to get to full brightness. Not conducive to spirited driving if you had to experience a second or 2 of darkness every time you switched from low to high beams !! Of course a nice little servo motor moving a high beam and low beam lens in front of the bulb would solve the issue :-) David Roberts 928 SPECIALISTS Phone: (828) 766-9280 Fax: (828) 766-5098 Website: http://www.928GT.com or www.928.cc E-Mail: 928@928GT.com Proud owner and driver of these 928s: 90 928GT 5-Speed Schwarz(Black)/Schwarz 89 928GT 5-Speed Schiefer Metallic/Schwarz 85 928S Euro 5-Speed Indischrot/Schwarz PCA Member - PeachState Region 928 Owners Club - http://www.928oc.org
