I had the help of a good alternator guy, but basically once you sort out which wires go where its just a matter of mounting it on the old bracket. We had to do some fitting to find a belt and pulley setup that will work. There are many benefits to this upgrade: 1/ You can get a replacement alt off the shelf at any Delco dealer. 2/ A new one costs less than a rebuilt Marchal or Bosch 3/ More power. As I say if your into serious electronics, stereo etc you can easily swap it out for a more powerful one. 4/ You can buy a chromed one if you want right from JC Whtiney. (Idont know? Some people like them;) 5/It uses bigger better bearings than the original and should last longer. 6/ Any alt shop can rebuild it in an hour. BTW I did this five years ago and have not had a problem. I get good voltage and the battery is always at full charge. I noticed that the starter runs faster than it ever did. Even with all of the accessories lit up the red warning light doesn't glow. If you know someone with a shop that you trust it might make it simpler. We had to try a few different belts/pulleys to make it work and they have all of that stuff on hand. A small mounting bolt sheath was fabricated to brace the bolt mount to the original bracket. Its all pretty straight forward once you get under and have a look. Good Luck DT
