Anyway, I replaced both of my door windows last summer. It's really not that bad. First you have to remove the door panels of course. And you'll need to remove the lower window seals, both inner and outer (at least I did, it may not be necessary to remove the outer one?). And then you'll have access to the felt guides, which you can remove next (if you don't remove these, you probably won't be able to get the lower part of the window by, which is made of metal and thicker than the glass). The window is held in by those two white clamps on the vertical tube, so you should remove those. When you remove those, the window will not be held in by anything (unless I've forgotten something!), so it will want to drop down, which you don't want to let it do. So hold it inplace when you're rmeoving the bolts on the white clamps. Also there is a metal roller that is on an arm coming from the motor (further forward in the door), that slides in tracks to move the window up and down. I don't think it is enough to keep the window from falling if you remove the clamps first. You can get the roller out one of two ways I think - remove the clamps so you can pivot the window around and move it until it comes free of the roller, or unbolt the window motor from the door so you can pull the arm with the roller back out of the track on the window. Then you can pull it up and out. I think it comes out easiest if you tilt the rear portion upward and outward somewhat. You may want to cover the door itself and trim with towels, or various other objects to keep from scratching them with the metal on the bottom of the window. Installing is mostly the reverse. Get the roller in the track on the window, then bolt on the clamps. That's the tricky part though. I *think* the way the manuals say to do it is to put them on loosely, then roll the window all the way up, loosen them some more, and then retighten. Can't remember how exactly I did it. If you haven't already gotten more info on that part, lemme know and I'll think about it some. Once the rollers are all set, you're mostly good to go. Put the felt guides back on, and then the window seals (which are difficult to do). Oh! Almost forgot. After you remove the felt guides, some metal will be exposed which could scratch up the glass when you're removing or installing - so definitely cover it up with somethign! Put a towel down there, tape something over it, or whatever. Hope that helps Mike 86 5spd
