Just purchased this vehicle December 4th, 2002. I Decided I needed a vehicle more beneficial to the high country environment I now live in. Sporting plenty of punch (reports anywhere from 5.7 to 6.2 second 0-60, depending on who you believe, Automobile Magazine January 2002 has 5.7 with manual transmission), all-wheel-drive capability (hey, it's known to snow in Colorado at 9300 feet!), and enough ground clearance to avoid being a snowplow (I have my truck for the real deep stuff!), this car should be Just The Ticket! I was really hoping for an Audi S4 or RS4, but I sure don't have that kind of money and they do have the ground clearance issues. Somehow, someway, I came across this WRX located close to me (color was not an issue), and though skeptical of owning my first four-door, and it's been ages since I've owned an automatic, I decided to give this a try. My first test drive found this car to be somewhat noisy (whiny, I would venture to say) but with such a smooth power band once the RPM's get above 3000, I am more than willing to overlook a little noise! Winter is here, and I will see what this sedan can do! OK - It's time to sell. Though it's a great car, I have decided I just don't need it anymore. I am a bit tired of owning an automatic (nothing wrong with it, but it takes so much of the fun out of driving). I sold this car to move back into the Volkswagen world (I purchased a Volkswagen Golf R32). I will say the Subaru has about the worst resale value I have ever experienced, and due to that fact I doubt I will ever own another one. I will say it did great in the winters, where my R32 does not have nearly enough ground clearance, but hey, I've always got my truck, right? Subaru - loosing value at every turn! |
