Porsche's motto is "There is no substitute".
This one takes it a few steps further up the uniqueness scale!

This is the way to roll at 9300 feet! This 914 provides a perfect formula of a light weight chassis, mid engine location, and a low center of gravity. Mate this with a relatively high horsepower engine and give it the tires to hold the road and the brakes to get it stopped, and you have reached sports car nirvana!

Yes, I know, this one does not have a stereo, but the engine is sweet, sweet music to your ears!

It is the epitome of a head turner. I can't tell you how many times people have pulled up and gave nothing but positive comments on this car. It is a consistent show winner and people pleaser. It just doesn't go with my quiet demeanor!

There are many 914 enthusiasts out there, and it's no wonder considering these cars make a perfect platform for engine swaps. From the stock four and six options, to 911 engines, to full blown water cooled V-8's. It is even a very popular platform for electric car conversions.

As you can see, this car has the famed, reliable 3.0 liter. This was the perfect choice when mated with the stock (though strengthened) 901 transmission. You can go through ten 901 transmissions for the cost of a single 915 conversion. The torque of this 3.0 liter is just at the peak of what the 901 will handle.

If you are interested in purchasing this car, please e-mail me. Here is what it doesn't have (and I don't miss):

  • Windshield Wipers (due to oil cooler location)
  • Emergency Brake (due to wilwood discs)
  • Radio/Stereo (who needs it?)
  • Heat (it's a fair weather driver, anyway
  • Horns (just... doesn't have them)

Here are some items that could use fixing up that I have not had time for

  • Keys are all mismatched - this is an easy fix to do your own according to the forums
  • Passenger exterior door pull handle hard to pull but opens
  • Right headlight (both dim and high) have gone out - suspect fuses as the H3 lights are good
  • Stress crack in paint, right rear. About 1 inch long
  • Stainless Muffler had a hole and was welded (Thanks!), noticible but functional
  • A few items not finished in interior (bezel around key)

Overall, this car is a 9 out of 10. The engine is solid and new. The tires are like new, but they are over 12 years old. The amount of money it would take to build a car to this condition makes this one a bargain, and good luck finding a solid rust-free car to start with!

There is no substitute!
