Mark Litherland's 1983 Porsche 928S

Here it is, the result of an on/off not-so-intensive search for a few weeks, my 1983 Porsche 928S.  I was selling my 1971 914 2.0 Turbo and needed a nice daily driver with all the creature comforts, but still hauled ass, was a kick to drive, and could carry stuff.  With a limited budget, I was considering a 944, a 1st gen Rx-7 SE (I'm also a rotorhead), or possibly something really different like an Alfa Romeo GTV6.  I was also thinking about a 928S but it absolutely must be a 5-speed and good ones seemed out of my price range.  I looked at a couple 944s and talked to a local guy about an Rx-7, but my heart wasn't in it.  Then Steve Lewis made his fateful post to the 928 List (which I was lurking on).  Here's what he wrote.

Four minutes later, I wrote a frantic email begging him to contact me asap.  After swapping some pictures (that's two of them at the top of this page), information, and a couple phone calls, I had two one-way plane tickets booked to Norfolk, VA.  My friend Chad and I were on the plane a week later.  Steve picked us up at the airport and took us to his apartment where the 928 was sitting, looking ready for anything.  We ran through the basics and I did a compression check (160-180 on all cylinders), gave Steve the check and hit the road for Atlanta.  Great way to buy a car!

We finally arrived home 10-ish hours later, tired and not-so-fresh, but happy.  Then I made my very first post to the 928 list as a new owner.

The car is extremely strong and has been very well cared for.  The main problem is that it sat in the Florida sun for most of its life and the paint and dash were just baked into oblivion.  Not to worry, I'll take care of that soon

Steve did a lot of work to the interior and it is gorgeous, with black leather and new carpet throughout.  He also replaced the transmission with an '85 unit complete with a limited-slip differential.  This is a car that drives beautifully, is very strong and comfortable, just needs some TLC.  I couldn't be happier!
