Now that the engine was almost like
new, I felt that the rest of the car should be mechanically sound too.
I began by putting the chassis
up on jacks and proceeded to remove and disassemble all of the suspension
and braking components. The suspension parts were cleaned, sandblasted,
and painted. The koni shocks were rebuilt to spec., and most of the
rubber suspension bushings were replaced. The master cylinder, all
of the brake lines, ball joints, and tie rod ends were also replaced.
The brake calipers were reconditioned and the steering rack was cleaned
and lubricated. Another big job was the removal of the engine compartment
insulation and preparing the engine bay for the motor installation.
