My Own Projects

1999 was a very busy summer. I  was involved in 8 911 engine pulls this summer.
My own engine 3 times, Landis Roger's,  Ken Coburn's, Michael Rothenberg's, MikeWildt's
and Mike Platt's.

Why is this man smiling? Because he loves working on Porsches of course!

This spring I had my engine apart to change the pistons and cams. I freshened the transmission while I was waiting and waiting and waiting for Motor Meister to send me the parts that they supposedly had "on the shelf" when I ordered them. Nice guys (very nice actually) but if you order stuff from them don't tear your engine down till you have the parts in your hands.

Some assembly required.

One of my 3 "monogrammed" pistons. Yes, Carrera tensioners do fail. Luckily the valves weren't hurt. I noticed this when I went to put in Euro pistons and discovered I already had Euro pistons. At least the 964 cams went in OK.

After a few events this summer my transmission had that "not so fresh feeling" so I pulled the engine+transmisson again and replaced 1,2 slider and 1st and 2nd syncros. Now it shifts like it should. This picture is from couple of summers ago when I replaced syncros 1-5, dog teeth for 1-4th gear, 1/2 and 3/4 sliders. A friend of mine drove my car and noted that it shifted nicely after my rebuild. I told him that was the effect I was going for...

There are a lot of parts in there...
