A couple important things to understand about where I am coming from:
1.  My 928 came with VINYL
2.  Leather is nice, but too expensive for my hobby
3.  This is a 25 year old car that will never be worth much to anyone but me.

Okay, now the ground rules generally let you know not to expect me in a concours soon.  As for supplies, I ordered the carpet from Original Fit Interiors.  It's domestic stuff colored caramel and ran me about $250.  The vinyl was purchased from a local fabric store, under $100 and marine compatible and more importantly selected based on my wife's taste of what matched the carpet.  Color Plus had the stuff to repair the dash and pod -- cracks and re-dying.  The seats are at the reupholsters where he is trying to preserve the look of corduroy inserts with the new color vinyl.  Overall, I went lighter on interior then stock.  I think it looks better with the dark blue exterior.

Here's some work-in-progress...

All I can say is when my wife saw the dash reconditioned and carpet, she said, "it looks like a new car."  Hey, I'll take what I can get.

This is not easy work for a lazy accountant.  I must bring up the fact that I did win a blue ribbon in the Wise County (Texas for you uneducated) Youth Fair.  Well, that sewing experience is put to better use here.  This was a pain.  I am very happy with the results.  No, I think I am proud of the results.  Lots of the vinyl is glued over unsupported foam and I think once in the car, it gets more structure.  Also, those seat belt openings were pure pain.  I would not consider doing this for a living.

I started with the headliner.  It's big and awkward.  Trimming in the vanity and overhead lights were a breeze.  The foam underneath is rough, and you can see it in the texture of the finished product.

Lots of little pieces to do.  Lots of time and fun (yeah, right).

Here's a general picture of what the old vinyl was like.  Like crap, basically.

And more vinyl covered parts...

Here's my lovely dash before refinishing.  Hey, it's dirty in this picture.  But it really was sad how cleaning made it look like a clean, crapped out dash.

And don't forget one of these babies before you start.

If I ever finish, I'll post some more with this stuff actually in my 928.  And I better have it drivable for Frenzy (that would be 2002!!!)
