On July 14th, 2001, Our local chapter of the Porsche Club of America, Orange Coast Region, had an Autocross/Driver Education event at Irwindale Speedway's parking lot. At the end of the autocross event, we had a tail-gate party with all the Porsches. During that time, if anyone wanted they could have their cars washed and waxed for a reasonable fee. Above is my '92 C2 Turbo getting a wash to prepare it for a NASCAR pre-race Porsche Parade. We had arranged with the Speedway's organizer to do a couple of parade laps on the oval before the races that evening. Afterward, we parked all the Porsches in a special parking area for Porsche only. It was very cool to spend a whole day at an autocross, a tail gate party with lots of food, and to lap on a pro oval track and ended with a ticket to watch the NASCAR races.

Here is me next to my car while it'd been dried and detailed just before the parade laps. The picture is not great but what can I say I didn't take the picture. Thanks Ken aka FastFreddy.

Me and Mike Graf are having fun and taking a needed break from getting up really early in the morning and spent a whole day on the hot parking lot of Irwindale Speedway.

Me and Jim Allison and his girlfriend. He rode with me in the car during the parade laps. He waved a cool flag out of the sunroof. It was great. He is looking for a Porsche of his own soon. It will be his first one. Warning!, it is very addicting.

Here we are on the oval track. This's the first lap. It's slow. I really want to go faster and faster. But the wall on the right is very close too. I had my first track/driving event here a few years ago and it was scary to think of the wall while driving your baby.

Another picture, a close up, of the oval. This time we drive a little faster, about 65 mph. We only allowed to do two laps, one slow and one fast, and then exist to the pit lane to the parking area. I had the most fun I've had in a long time. I hope to do this kind of events 4-6 times a year in my car. Porsche, resistance is futile.
