Oil Cooler Install:

Porsche 944 turbo's can run hot on the track. A secondary oil cooler, plumbed in serial with the stock cooler, should keep the car cool.

Terry Morris at KISS Engineering (trymorris@cox.net, 316 776-0827) has a nice kit that includes a Mocal cooler, and all hoses, fittings, and other parts required to install the kit.

When I started repairing my car after Mosport, I had the front bumber cover removed. There would never be an easier time to install the oil cooler, so here goes.

stock

This is the stock oil cooler. Mine has a little bit of damage, but it's still fine. Note that the power steering line has been damaged, that will be replaced.

This is where the new cooler will be installed. This is the driver side of the car, right behind the bumper cover. The hard tube is a  vent for the alternator. The horns come down.

Here, the new cooler is physically mounted. The area is behind the driver side fog light.

Same shot, but a little further back. You can see the front bumper and the right side of the A/C condenser.

Here are the lines connected to the new cooler.

Another shot of the new lines. The new cooler is on the right side and you can see how the lines are connected and are held in place.

Same basic shot. The fender liner has been installed, the lines routed and supported. I mounted one support to the rear of the A/C compressor. The other is mounted to the A/C compressor bracket. The horns have been reinstalled.

I ran the car a while to get the oil hot enough to open the thermostat. There were some leaks at the fittings. I tightened them, no more leaks. Should be good to go!
