The Passion Begins:

My introduction to the 964 occured when I was still living in my home town of Perth, Western Australia. At the time, my father's friend had just sold his Ferrari 348, and bought himself a new Porsche with an interesting automatic gearbox in a beautiful shade of light purple.

The car turned out to be a Carrera 2 964 with tiptronic.

There and then I decided that I would one day own a 964 of my own.

Life Moves on:

Over the preceding years a number of things happened. Firstly one became two (I got married to my beautiful wife), two became three (had a son), moved to Singapore for work reasons (South East Asia was booming in the early 90's), bought our first car (a Mazda Miata- which has since been replaced by a family car- a Saab 9-3) and most important of all, got ourselves a little home.

My car is most definitely not the wide body C4 anniversary model, but I love the badge so much (and I'm not a stickler for originality) that I replaced my standard Carrera 4 badge with the beautiful 911 badge you see above.

The Dream is Realised:

With all the essentials out the way, it was decided that the time had come to fullfill a little dream. Unfortunately, as those who live in Singapore will know, cars are not the most affordable items in Singapore. Indeed, I believe that cars in Singapore are possibly the most expensive in the world to own and run.

As a result, the first Porsche that I could afford was a 1985 911 Carrera 3.2, which cost me a small fortune (the equivalent of close to USD73,000)- with 9 owners on the registration at the time (the road tax is also a killer, at around USD3,500 per annum, and lets not get into the fact that all cars have to maintain a Certificate to allow then to stay on the road for 10 years- after expiry, a new certificate is required, and this can cost around USD23,000)! An interesting fact is that car owners in Singapore love to change their cars- hence sports cars tend to be found with a large number of owners, though mileage is usually quite low.

But my desire was always to own a 964, and as a result, after much saving (and less than a year with the Carrera 3.2, I found my 964, a Polar Silver on dark blue interior (original exterior colour- Diamond Blue Metallic)1990 Carrera 4.

At the time, the car had 4 owners and had clocked a mileage of around 60,000km. Interestingly, this car was once owned by one of the co-owners of RUF Automobiles in Singapore.

The car was completely standard, with the exception of updated side rear view mirrors and the "basket handle" third brake light. Since that time, a number of modifications have been performed, and these are highlighted under the Modifications section of this sight. Indeed, this car is an on going project for me, and as such any changes done to this car will be updated to the website as and when time permits.
