How to change a side-market light (front)
The light bulb in my passenger side front side market light was burned out. Here's how to change the bulb.
TOOLS NEEDED:
Jack and wheel blocks
10mm socket and wrench
Replacement light bulb (can be obtained at any autoparts store -- most carry a product locater)
PROCEDURE:
- Block off the rear wheels.
- Jack up the car.
- Remove the tire.
- Using the 10mm socket, remove the bolts for the wheel well cover.
- Remove the wheel well cover. It's a tight fit, but the cover is flexible and can be bent for removal.
- Using the 10mm socket, remove the plastic cover from the front of the wheel well.
- The side marker is held in place by two "c" clamps. Remove them.
- Push the sidemark from the inside of the wheel well. It will hang agains the outside of the fender.
- Slide back the rubber boot covering the light bulb.
- Pinch the white clip that holds the socket in place and remove the socket from the sidemarker.
- Push down (gently) on the bulb, twist it, pull it out and replace it.
- Turn your parking lights on and make sure the bulb works.
- Reassemble in reverse order.
