Evenflow Odyssey V
|
The design of the Breverra
works great as a booster, but when used with the harness its useless.
The anchor points for the belt in the rear of our cars sits too far forward
of the crease, This is why no one can get the Breverra to work with kids
our age and or size. There is an amount of slop that can not be adjusted
out with the three point seat belt, even with the top tether in place.
The lap belt eliminates a lot of play. It can't overcome the design of
the Breverra.
I settled on an Evenflow Odyssey
V. It is just a seat with a harness, there is no drop down bar.
in conjunction with the lap belt and tether, there is absolutely no movement
with this seat in place. |

The tether point
|
The Century Breverra comes
with a tether mounting point that I used. It's worth getting the seat just
to get the mount.
The rear deck in our cars
was designed with the tether mount in place. but it wasn't put into production.
The hardest part of mounting the tether is removing the airbox. You will
need a right angle drill to finish the piercing the hole through the speaker
deck. The tether gusset and top hole are already in place. If you
haven't removed the entire airbox before, please allow a good half day
for this project. |

Tether plug
|
The outline for the tether
hole is cast into the back of the speaker deck. Cut carefully and you should
be fine.
I posted a request for help
in installing the airbox. A wonderful person from Boston provided a detailed
explanation. I think it is in the archives under airbox.

Lap belts from a 964
|
Derek's idea to use the lap
belt from a 964 is probably the best idea for those trying to figure out
how to get a child seat into the back of a 993.

Finally, this is not a huge
undertaking. However it is helpful to have some similar experience to fall
back on for reference. There will be one or two circumstances that will
come up that call for good judgment based on past mistakes.
