In the past, a Porsche Cabriolet edition must offer all the qualities of it's Coupe counterpart. The 944 S2 is no exception. The fully lined, insulated top is easily raised or lowered; when up, it provides near Coupe comfort qualities. Thanks to the transaxle driveline - engine in front, transmission and fuel tank in the rear - the 944 S2 body is highly rigid, making it an ideal basis for a convertible. To further ensure torsional rigidity, Porsche engineers specified various bodyshell reinforcements to ensure safety without compromises. Galvanized reinforcing panels and special corrision protected joints result in long-term protection typical of Porsche.
The Cabriolet's windshield - lower than on the 944 S2 Coupe version - permits ideal open-top driving pleasure. The interior retains the practical 2 + 2 features of the Coupe; folding down the rear seats provides access to the luggage compartment, allowing skis or other bulky items to be transported. The 944 S2 personifies the Porsche designer's wish to let the owner of this exciting new Porsche "have it all:" high leisure time value, with leisure time versatility - combined, of course, with Porsche performance!
