Erics rules of Porsche 924 restoration:

  1. Never , ever pay full price!!
  2. Dont waste money on used rubber, or small platic parts, they will suck anyway. get them new, and use your discount. otherwise i guarentee youll be replacing them again!
  3. A 924 is an investment in the porsche experience, and in fun, if you want more than that, your in the wrong car, buy a 911 if you want any return on your money.
  4. dont go nuts, at its best an early euro 924 has a whopping 125 hp,usa got 110hp, dont expect to get 250 hp from it, learn to drive instead, update your suspension. use finesse to win, not hp. keep this in mind as you build your car. ive got tons of "hp" addons sitting in boxes, why, because i cant drive what i have now, maybe someday......
  5. If your not having fun for extended periods of time, give it up, youll only get more frustrated, a bad day, okay, a bad month, sometimes, but more than than, time to move on....
  6. MAKE FREINDS WHO KNOW THE CAR, YOULL NEED THEM!! (see links, free freinds!!)
  7. Save your pennies, sometimes, youll need every one of them......
  8. Always have a fresh supply of snacks, and your favorite beverage on hand, and dont be afraid to share, youll be surprized what people will do for a few doritos and a coke....
  9. Buy a parts car, if you have the funds and the room. my old parts car saved me thousands in spares, and i had a real model to play with first before tearing apart my car.
  10. And finally, have a back up car to go find parts with, if yours is in twice the shape mine was in when i bought them, youll need an alternate source of transportation until you get it sorted out (believe me, "huffY" doesnt cut it)
